Lilly’s House

We developed the concept alongside the client for the joinery in this period family home. The brief was simple: to provide plenty of storage hidden in stylish cabinetry, perfectly suited to hectic family life.

In the sitting room, the contemporary media unit conceals an abundance of storage, both for the living space and kitchen (situated opposite). Neutral spray work marries with the painted wall finish, whilst American Black Walnut offers a distinct contrast and forms a central reveal housing the TV and AV equipment, alongside subtly-lit display shelving for artifacts and artwork.

In the children’s playroom, the joinery wraps around two walls, making use of a previously awkward alcove, creating storage for toys, as well as hidden homework desks. We also tucked storage for AV equipment and various games consoles in a hidden compartment located behind the TV, accessible from the side, helping to keep the space clutter free.

The playful pops of colour and durable material (HPL-faced ply), ensure the joinery is future proofed, and will last from the younger years through to a teenage hangout.

Concealed LED lighting provides soft feature lighting across the staircase and the staggered top to the cabinet is intended to house an array of potted plants, creating a green ‘hat’ to the joinery piece.

Lastly, we created shoe and coat storage in the hallway - the panelling mimicking that of the heritage staircase now concealed behind, retaining the period charm & features whilst transforming the nook into practical, flexible storage.
